First hybrid solar-geothermal power plant

Enel Green Power, a leading power plant developer, is building the world’s first solar-geothermal power plant. Located in Fallon, Nevada, the facility combines 26 MW of photovoltaic solar generating capacity with 33 MW of baseload geothermal power.

More than 89,000 polycrystalline photovoltaic modules were installed to provide solar energy. Built on the existing Stillwater geothermal plant, the project provides 59 MW of combined capacity to power more than 50,000 homes. The company is also in the early stages of developing a similar hybrid CSP-geothermal “test plant” in the same location.
